We are in the future, on Earth. Due to climate change, the water has evaporated, and the planet now resembles Mars. From ground level, we see the vast desert that was once the Atlantic Ocean—now an endless expanse of sand and jagged rock formations. A very old commercial ship lies stranded in the sand, almost entirely buried. Beside us, the arm of the Statue of Liberty emerges from a sand dune. In the distance, the remains of Manhattan’s skyscrapers stand in ruins, completely overtaken by the shifting sands. The sun is not visible, as it is rising behind us, while a massive moon sets ahead, sinking behind the crumbling skyscrapers. The sky is painted with stunning hues of orange and blue, like the colors of dawn, with the large moon still visible above the horizon
